Rustic British flag holder used to troop the colors on the battlefield. More ornate holders were used in tattoos and parades. This example is from the Boer war period, which was when they really started to become obsolete.

The leather strap is fully adjustable to fit literally any size and the bearer cup would accommodate a 2 3/4 diameter pole. The cup is lead, covered in leather and has two support rings on the top and bottom (which is cracked in image 2).

These are the everyday pieces of equipment which are never kept yet turn up as mere curiosities from time to time. This is the reason I will always choose objects similar to this, to give a complete picture of the scene. Standard Bearers were the most important representative of a regiment in the heat of battle since they bore the hardened resolve of that troop and account for their action on the field.

I am honest in my descriptions and always point out any flaws to avoid disappointment. Any questions will be answered as quickly as possible. If I have made a mistake in my description I am always happy to rectify this.

Your purchases are always carefully wrapped and very well protected for shipping.

Each purchase is gift wrapped in vintage brown paper and string to give the impression of having stepped back in time. Enjoy :)
All our items are vintage/antiques and most have had decades of use. A buyer of vintage objects should assume a baseline of wear. I am always honest and clear in my descriptions and always endeavor to point out any flaws to avoid disappointment but I cannot disclose every minute sign of use on our items as it would be impossible to do so. You should assume these are present unless we specify otherwise here at the beginning of the condition report.

Please do not hesitate to request additional photographs should you wish to inspect the item in more detail before purchasing it or if you have any questions at all that are not answered in my description. I normally respond to enquiries very quickly.
All of our items are fully insured in case of damage or loss during the shipping process.

In the event an item is damaged, we will require your co-operation to process the claim. You must provide photographs of the damaged item, photographs of the packaging received (inside and out) and any other information required by the insurance carrier.

Once the claim has been approved by the insurance carrier, we will provide a full (or a partial refund if this has been agreed upon between the buyer and us).
