A crochet soft sculpture inspired by the tentacles of jellyfish and squid and the biological drawings of German artist/naturalist Ernst Haeckel (they are so awesome, if you haven't taken a look at Haeckel's work I would highly recommend it!). I used fine cotton crochet thread in aqua blue, turquoise blue, and sage green to crochet individual circular pieces. Each piece was then carefully arranged to a second hand wood base painted in coordinating aqua blue. This particular base has a built in hanger on the back.

I love making fiber art pieces based on repeating organic shapes and the natural world. Each of my bases are found at local secondhand shops, so each one is unique. There may be evidence of wear on each base - the paint does a good job of hiding any imperfections, but they may exist.

This piece measures approximately 4.5 x 8.5 inches (11 x 21 cm)
