-It should be about 1-2 fingers gap in between the collar and pet neck for a comfortable fit.
-Make sure not to hold it too loosely or too tightly.

• BREAKAWAY BUCKLE :
Breakaway buckles are designed for cats. If the collar catches on something and the cat in difficulty whilst climbing or exploring , the cat's twisting or struggling action causes the buckle to open, so snaps apart allowing your cat to escape .It will auto-release after pressure on with a certain amount of force to freeing the cat .So Breakaway Buckle is mostly used for cats, and can't be used with a leash.

• NON-BREAKAWAY BUCKLE :
NON-BREAKAWAY is most for dog collars (choose this type if using a leash)
It is the side / quick release buckle by hand . It DO NOT auto-release .
So if you want to use the collar as a leash with the same collar ,please select the non breakaway buckle (whether for a dog or cat).
