Oh, so lovely! These beautiful angels are hand needle felted from the creamiest of natural wool colors. I begin each angel by felting a cone shaped base using organic Merino wool. The base is a hollow cone to enable the angel to be placed atop a Christmas tree but felted approximately ¼ inch thick so she stands freely on her own as well. I then shape her face and arms and felt them to the base. The final step is when each angel really comes to life and takes on her own personality. I felt on layers of Wensleydale and Cotswold curly locks to form her dress, wings, and hair. The curls from these sumptuous wools add a glow around the angels’ bodies. I spend a great deal of time precisely felting the curls so as to maintain their fantastic texture. All in all, each angel takes a minimum of five hours to complete and I’ve been known to spend up to twelve hours.

My original thought when starting these angels was for them to be Christmas tree toppers but I didn’t want to put mine away and she has been perched on my mantle for months! Such a sweet sight to see her looking down on me, like a Guardian Angel. This would be the perfect gift for someone special to you for any celebration or landmark. Certainly Christmas but even a new baby, a wedding present, graduation, a new home, or just to show your love.

This specific angel is holding her hands before her, perhaps in prayer. Her hair is short and curly. She wears a simple dress, with a thick trim of curls around the neckline and the bottom. She stands nine inches tall and three inches wide at the base. Her wings are slightly wider.

Needle felting is a time intensive felting process in which a barbed needle is poked hundreds to thousands of times into loose wool fibers. With each poke the fibers become tangled together, the more you poke the tighter the felting. Unlike other felting techniques, needle felting allows for a more sculptural effect and does not require the use of water.

Angels contain small parts and are not intended to be used as toys. Purchase is of the angel only – all other items shown in photographs are for display purposes only.
