Gorgeous In Green

Great gift idea! Perfect hostess gift or small gift for those on your list you maybe don't know too well. Not sure which holiday (if at all) someone celebrates? This is perfect.

What a spectacular way to show off your favorite ephemera! Cards, photos, ticket stubs, whatever. These are great to display your paper treasures on dressers, desks, mantles, etc. The holidays are right around the corner and so are holiday cards. Place a set of shakers next to a pretty bowl. You can pile you cards in the bowl and rotate displaying the special cards in your shakers. Why not do the same for birthdays? Graduations? Weddings? Valentines Day? Start a new family tradition!

I’ve taken vintage salt and pepper shakers and given them a new life. To start, I clean each piece with all natural cleaners and a cotton swab to get them good and clean in all their nooks and crannies. I then make a wire coil, wrap it tight, and attach to the lid. Various size coils are used depending upon the size of the shaker. These coils also allow for several items to be held by one shaker. The inside of the lid is then filled with organic merino wool and needle felted so the holes in the lid are lined. I then fill the shaker with sparkling glitter! I love the stuff but I really don’t care for the mess. By lining the inside of the lid, the glitter is trapped inside and won’t spill out.

This specific set of upcycled shakers has a lovely bell shape to the glass. I have filled them with a lovely shade of spring green fine glitter, especially delicate looking. They stand at four inches high (including the coil top) and are 1 3/4 inches wide at the base. These shakers are in fantastic vintage shape with no chips, cracks, or dents.

These look even better in groups! I have a cluster of them holding my new collection of antique postcards. If you are interested in making a “bulk” purchase, please contact me and we can see what we can work out. Please note: No salt and pepper partners were separated in the making of these items. If they are an unmatched set it’s because they were bought individually.

All vintage items are cleaned by hand using all natural, chemical and fragrance free cleaners and inspected for anything more than cosmetic imperfections. Shabby chic, so they say! I have done my best to present an accurate description of any of these character flaws (we all have them!). Please look at the photos and read each description closely. Questions? Just ask!
