We have for sale an old french miniature powder compact.
This is a very eye catching french miniature powder compact with an engine turned design and a vacant cartouche in the centre. This lovely item is silver plated and it has "Made in France" on the side. On the rim it has a diamond mark with the initials C.I. with another diamond shape in the centre. On the underside is another diamond which looks to be a P or an O inside. There is also the word Mecon on the underside. There is a mirror on the inner side of the lid which is slightly silvered.
The powder compartment has a perforation inside.
On the outer rim (similar to a wrist watch) is a small wheel which allows the dispensing of the powder. The rear of the compact is removed by turning it - i.e. with a coin to reveal a spring loaded pressure plate and access to the power resevoir.
The plating is in very good condition, though there are a few very small dents.
The lid snaps shut but has a very slight buckle.
Ideal for the collector.
This is the first one I have seen - it is quite rare.
A very unusual piece indeed - please email me if you have any questions.
