SOLFEGE "STAR"
The center star of this celestial piece is made from the action of an 1866 Steinway upright piano, and around it shine several grand and upright hammers as well as a border of flanges from this same Steinway and other pianos. The star is made from 5 jacks out the Steinway. While every piano has a piece called a "jack," and every jack (as far as I can tell) performs the same function, the exact design of this piece can vary quite widely from one piano to another. In fact, these Steinway jacks are the first (and so far only) ones I've come across from which I could form a star.

While I made two pieces with the name "Solfege," each one features a unique arrangement of action pieces from the 1866 Steinway upright. The grouping in the final photo shows both "Solfege" pieces on the ends, with "Sheet Music" in the middle. The neutral colors will look perfect in any room.

NOTE ABOUT UPCYCLING: Because I use discarded pianos, many of which are 50-100 years old, each piece by nature will have some minor defects and show some signs of "wear and tear." They may also appear somewhat dirty, despite my knuckle-scraping efforts to get them clean. (Solid wood pieces get a sink bath, but felt pieces can only be scrubbed with a dry wire or nylon brush.) Not only that, but each piece varies slightly from the next, making your purchase a one-of-a-kind. Any parts that are not indigenous to the piano are purchased new; only the piano parts are upcycled.
