Easy to follow, step by step plans to build this beautiful, sturdy canning jar cabinet.
The cabinet measures 60" tall, 24" deep, and 30" wide. And with (4) shelves and a sturdy top, it can hold a lot of canned goods. In fact, each shelf holds up to (48) pint jars, (35) pint jars or 55 1/2 pint jars.

Plans include a material list, tool list, and complete step-by-step instructions to build the entire unit.

The entire cabinets frame and shelving frames are created from (10) 2x4's.And the shelf bottoms can be created from a single sheet of plywood. 2x4's just make so much sense to build with. Not only are they economical and plentiful, but they can easily be sanded, routed, or stained and painted into beautiful wood. But even more, they are also incredibly strong - and it is that strength that matters most when it comes to holding canning jars.

Requires minimal tools to complete:

Miter Saw or Circular Saw
Drill/Screwdriver or Screw Gun
1/8” Drill Bit for Pre-Drilling Holes
Level or Square
Tape Measure
A chop/miter saw works best for making cuts, but a circular saw, jig saw, or even a hand saw will work to make the cuts.
You can also use a router or sander to put decorative edges on your canning cabinet, but it is not necessary to build the completed cabinet

My project turned out great! It looks very nice in our garage holding our first few canning experiments. 8>) Here is my tip that wasn't included in the instructions; make sure you pay attention to how you make the cuts so that you can get all the pieces out accurately. I ended up being a few pieces short because I started cutting the smaller pieces in the 'scrap' and actually needed those for other longer pieces. I made do with what was sitting around my garage but wish I had looked at the full cut list first and thought about how to cut each piece from the 2x4x8's.

My son used this pattern for his Eagle Scout project at a food pantry. The directions are easy, the shelves are very sturdy (think lots of canned goods!) and the recipients loved the end product.
