"For all of them (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Don Passeo, and E.E. Cummings) France was the impetus and coloration of their ripening-------- And it was those other five ( Aaron Copland, Roy Harris, Walter Piston, Roger Sessions, and Thomson) via Paris --- Who constituted from the Mid-twenties to the late thirties a sort of commando unit which invaded every domain of music, art, literature and procured for us all and for our younger colleagues the recognition at home and in Europe that Americans had for so long hoped - - - - in the old days (in Paris) when our pennies were like dollars, one could have for almost nothing the richest life an artist could imagine. Read about it and weep. 1903 - 1939.


Book is in good condition. Paperback, has rubbing to spine, shelf rub. 302 pp. includes index.
Test is tight, white and clean. No writings, marks or tears. Not a x-lib, or remainder or book club.
