"The Dance of the Seven Veils" greeting card from the original painting by Emily Balivet.

The card measures 5x7 and is printed on acid free, archival quality smooth, matte stock...Perfect for framing, too!

Please browse my shop sections for other print sizes.

The card is sealed in a cello sleeve with an ivory envelope and will be shipped via First Class mail. I combine shipping on multiple purchases.

The Dance of the Seven Veils is thought to have originated in Assyrian and Babylonian mythology and depicts the Goddess Ishtar's descent into the underworld. At each of the seven gates into the underworld, Ishtar must remove one article of clothing. When she finally passes the seventh gate, she is naked. The dance can be interpreted as highly sensual and erotic or one with deeply spiritual and metaphysical meaning - The shedding veils representing earthly matters passing away to reveal the true, enlightened Self.
