Birds in the Air Quarter Sheet

This is modeled by my horse, Janow. It's way too big for him! He's 14.2 on the outside, but 17 hands on the inside. He had to model this because he was available. Being a nudist at heart, he thinks he was in the wrong place at the wrong time!

The quilt block is called Birds In The Air. It's a traditional block. This one is a "scrap quilt" which doesn't mean it is made from left-over scraps or used fabric, but that it combines many many different prints instead of a select few perfectly coordinated ones. Quilters do this on purpose. Really.

Quarter sheets are used during warm-up and cool-down in cold weather, when you have to take the blankets off to ride. They are called quarter sheets because they cover the hind quarters, or just "quarters" of the horse. These are also known as excercise rugs. This one has a keyhole cutout and hook and loop closure in front, so it can be removed and replaced without dismounting, or fastened on top of the riders legs to keep them warm too. It is cotton fabric on top, quilted onto fleece. It measures 56" front to back, and 59" across the back.

Machine wash, tumble dry, it comes new pillow case.

Thanks, Cara
