Description

Philodendron hederaceum 'Brasil' is a vine that is a moderate grower with heart-shaped leaves and yellow and lime green variegation cast through the center. A wild and bold version of the classic "Heartleaf" Philodendron. Incredibly forgiving and tolerable of some neglect, the Philodendron 'Brasil' makes for the perfect houseplant for first-timers. Vines may stretch up to 8' indoors and 10'-15' outdoors. Leaves mature beautifully with age.

Cuttings sold of this plant are single cuttings at 3-5 nodes or at least 6” depending on leaf size (top or bottom cutting). Please check availability for rooted versus non-rooted cuttings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foliage:
Heart-shaped to elliptic-ovate leaves in dark green that have strokes of yellow and lime green cast through the center. Stems have a red-orange (peach) hue.

Blooms:
Yes - unlikely to occur

Fruit:
No - flowers are sterile

Zoned:
10-12

Environment:
Average to high humidity. Tolerates indoor levels, but will appreciate a humid area. Grows best in 60-80 degrees F and will tolerate as low as 50 degrees.

Light:
Mid to bright, indirect. Can tolerate low light levels, but may become leggy and lose variegation. Medium, indirect works best. Direct sun may burn the leaves.

Soil:
Average, well-draining potting soil or peat-based

Water:
Requires an evenly moist soil, but prefers to dry out slightly between watering. Will tolerate slightly dry conditions if humidity is higher. Overly damp soil may encourage leaf drop and disease. Leaves may droop when it's time for a watering.

Fertilizer:
Use a balanced fertilizer monthly during the growing period.

Notes:
Trim leggy vines to promote a bushier habit. All parts of the plant are considered toxic. Plants are shipped bare root or with light Sphagnum moss according to import/export regulations. Shipping usually occurs on Monday and Tuesday to minimize risk of damage to plants in transit. You may request shipping Wednesday - Friday provided your understanding the live-arrive guarantee is void. Prior to shipping, please contact the shop with questions or concerns and familiarize yourself with the shipping policy in FAQ section. Pot in images not included.
