This antique map of Africa is upcycled from a 1907 encyclopedia. It was copyrighted in 1903 by Rand McNally. It's a lovely old lithograph on paper that has slightly darkened from age, enough to add vintage charm. The map was a single paper folded into two pages that flatten out. It was "tipped" into the encyclopedia. A strip of tissue was pasted onto the back crease and then that tissue was stitched into the binding so there are no holes in the map itself. It measures 9 1/4'' X 12 3/4'', a perfect size for framing. Of course it will flatten out when pressed under glass much better than it did when I scanned it. This map will make a wonderful "guy" gift for a history buff. Beautiful wall decor for an office, classroom or den.
