Amphibolite or Bronzite Cabochon

This roughly rectangular freeform cabochon is cut from a gorgeous material from Australia. Originally misidentified as Bronzite, this stone is is actually a golden colored Amphibolite.

The general appearance of this material is a brown background with golden flecks that just shine in the light. I'll be upfront - my product photography skills suck. I just could not capture the shine in this stone. It is really breathtaking.

The spots that appear white or gray in the photos are small voids and pockets in the surface of the cab. This stone has a wonderful texture as a result of these voids, yet still maintains a brilliant flash. Quite a looker, this stone.

The cabochon is 31 mm (1.2 inches) long and 26 mm (1 inch) wide. The bevel height is 2 mm and the stone is 7.5 mm thick at the peak of the dome.

This cab has a polished back, which you can see in the 4th photo. It has a mirror finish all around. There is a solder bevel on the back edge.

Cut and listed by Jason.

For differing price points some of my cabs have polished backs, and some do not. This one DOES.

Different monitors may show colors differently.
