This listing

This listing is for a signed and dated 13x19" Giclée print. Each print includes a hand written edition number and signature (front), and title of print (back). Every edition is created and reproduced by the artist, not a third party manufacturer. The total print size of each edition in this series is 19x13” and includes a colorful high definition subject on a crisp white background.

Each edition uses high definition photographs of the artist's original sculptures as a point of departure. The initial images are taken at the time of construction or completion of the sculpture. Each image is then formatted, cropped and edited to create a 'surrealist natural history' print. Both the sculptures and the prints are produced by the artist, Ellen Jewett. Although rooted in the mediums of photography and sculpture, the prints represent an artistic exploration in their own right and have a strong graphic quality. Through digital print media the artists seeks to explore and reflect back upon the human cultural construction of the animal, nature and 'wildness'.

Production and Care

Each edition is printed using archival ink printed on unbleached, mineral whitened, 100% cotton rag paper. The Nature Conservancy advisory manual, Green-in-Print, recognizes 100% rag as the most environmentally friendly photo paper currently available as it is produced by recycled products. The paper is of highest possible quality and is designed to meet gallery and museum longevity requirements. Cotton rag is a true 'textile paper' and therefore more versatile than typical papers; should your print accidentally be creased at any time it can be misted with water and ironed to a crisp flatness. Ethic and quality are integral to the spirit of this artwork.

Dee's Orphan Kitten Fund

100% of the net proceeds from your purchase of this print will be sent to Dee's Orphan Kitten Fund. This group is a non-profit volunteer society that specializes in the care of kittens and cats whose needs often evade, or are beyond the mandate of, government animal agencies. Dee's Orphan Kitten Fund monitors feral populations, they preform trap-sterilize-release and place individual cats in appropriate 'feral homes' such as farms. The kittens of feral cats are placed in foster care for socialization and rehabilitation so they can be adopted to pet homes. The medical services Dee's provides is often labor intensive but thanks to the many veterinary nurses and assistants who help the fund, they are able to help those kittens that other charities cannot. Dee's also offers other unique programs such as a fund to cover the vaccinations and sterilization of stray, owned and semi-owned roaming 'neighborhood cats' to prevent unwanted breedings and contagious disease.
