This attractive circa-19th-century lidded metal box may have originally served as a tea caddy; I have seen the same interesting fluted shape on other Victorian tea wares. It's versatile, though! Delicate and decorative enough to look lovely in a feminine boudoir, yet sturdy and streamlined enough to hold its own in a gentleman's den (or steampunk laboratory!), this weathered antique beauty might house jewellery, small slips of note paper, tobacco, bath salts, occult doodads, or whatever your heart desires.

I think this tin is made of brass, but don't know how to tell for sure. The lid and lower piece are stamped with the number "124" and something that looks like a letter C.

For details on condition, size and shipping, please see the sections below. For more antique and vintage treasures, please visit Aquamarine Dream Vintage at! Here are some Victorian goodies to get you started:

This tin measures approximately 5.5 inches long, 4 5/8 inches wide, and nearly 3 inches tall. It weighs 360 grams.

Solid structural condition, with a tarnished patina that gives it a "shabby chic" look (as shown in photos). There are some light strips of rust around the lower rim of the lid. If you store tea, tobacco or candy in here, you may want to use a liner or a bag in order to prevent your goodies from taking on a metallic flavour.
