For sale is a genuine, late 1930’s carved pedestal wooden bowl. It was produced by the Munising Co. located in Munising, MI. The Munising Co. produced many kinds of fine woodenware products from around 1911-1955. Most items that were produced were not labeled except for their bowls. Most bowls were made from maple that was harvested from local forests. This bowl is an example of one of their finer wares. This bowl is approximately 10-1/3” x 11” in diameter and about 3-1/8” high. It has a decorative circle boarder carved along the outside edge. The bowl rests on three little pedestal feet. It is marked on the bottom “Munising.” There are several reasons why this bowl is exceptional. The rich, honey colored patina is just beautiful! The natural finish of the wood doesn’t show its age. (Painted items of this age using have some paint loss.) The condition is this bowl looks like it was barely used. It has two darker colored scratches inside the bowl and very little other wear on it anywhere else. The feet are in pretty good shape, one has a couple of scratches on it but otherwise it looks great. I am also posting separately the rare salad and fork set that I purchased with it. The woman whom I bought these items from said they had belonged to her mother. She said the wooden bowl and salad fork and spoon were always with the set but she couldn’t tell me anything more about them. (The woman sold the bowl and utensils separately.) The wooden utensils are not made of maple but feel like a lighter weight wood. The fork is a hand carved Indian Chief and his mate. I don’t know if someone who worked at Munising made this set or if they were purchased separately but they have the same color of patina. If someone purchases both the bowl and utensils, I will reduce the price of the utensils and ship them for free. If you are interested, please e-mail me right away so I can pull both items and post a special e-mail for you. Price: $45.00. This item is sold “As Is” and is “non-returnable” because I have described this item as accurately as possible. I’m sorry but I only accept PayPal as my method of payment and I cannot ship out of the United States at this time. Payment is due within three days. Please wait 4-5 business days for PayPal to clear and your item will be shipped within 2-3 business days. Thanks for stopping by!
