This image was taken of the Children's Temperance Fountain in the Anne Whitcomb Scripps Conservatory on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan. The monument was sponsored by the Loyal Temperance Legion headed by Mrs. Elizabeth Stocking. It was paid for by the children of Detroit who raised pennies as their plea for temperance. The fountain cost approximately $2,500. The fountain was dedicated June 11, 1910. Relocated and rededicated Oct. 5, 1963

The conservatory has been in operation since 1904, features five distinct horticultural houses showcasing plants indigenous around the globe as well as an outside Lily Pond Garden and formal perennial gardens. It is open to the public and free of charge.
