When you live in Africa, you get to choose from a plethora of locally made jewelry. Namibians used to bring their jewelry to me to carry in my shop. I owned a restaurant with a section where we would sell local crafts, masks, gemstones and minerals. One case was full of African necklaces and fun jewelry. This is one of those.

This fun necklace has a center piece of a brass shield with an African pattern. The larger blue and the small purple glass beads are made in West Africa from recycled glass. I love the recycled thing. I love that the recycled pop bottles and glasses are made into such exquisite objet d' art. The recycled glass beads are joined with wooden beads and wooden disks and ostrich shell. It has a sterling silver lobster clasp that I replaced after re-stringing the necklace and is 25 inches long.

For those of you whose souls resonate to the sounds of the African drums.......this is yours.
