I recently had a request from my sister-in-law to make her and her co-workers a few “mug rugs” that had become so popular, because they drank a lot of coffee and didn’t want their condensation to drip all over their work counters. I found a million patterns online, but being me, i decided to take up the challenge of creating my own without even really knowing what i was doing. All i knew was that they needed to be small and fit a Grande size from Starbucks.

After many trials and errors, I came up with the Nicolette Mug Rug, named after the woman who made me take on this challenge! Once I got the right hook size and tension down, these became fast, easy and fun to make, and I kept the too-big sizes for myself!

I’m sharing the pattern with you today, because I want you to have fun making these as a quick and easy crochet gift or inventory booster for your crochet shops! I’m already getting local business with these, and I’m working on making one for all the ladies in my life as a Christmas gift (along with several other silly crochet items).

A little time consuming thanks to the bobbles, and it turns out big and slouchy, but I love it! Making some for my nieces!
