This hard plastic hygrometer is called the "Weatherman Jr." and was made in Chicago. The house is intricately molded in hard plastic and has two arched door openings -- out of one can appear a witch, out of the other a boy and girl. The backdrop is a cardboard scene that fits into the back of the house. If you peak through the doors and windows you can see a fireplace with a big steaming cauldron, a black cat, a black owl, a black bat and a portrait of a witch on a broomstick over the fireplace mantel.

If the weather forecast is for rainy or stormy weather, the witch will come out of the door; if the forecast calls for clear skies, the boy and girl will come out. I'm not sure if it works but the witch is out right now and we have a forecast of 2 to 6 inches of snow for tomorrow.

Measures 6 inches tall, 4 inches wide, 1 3/4 inches deep.

In good vintage condition -- there is a chip on the back of one of the birds at the top of the house and on the back of one of the house peaks but they don't show when it's hung on a wall. Some staining to the back of the cardboard insert.
