Antique chromolithograph of Palmyra palms of the coast of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). This old botanical
print was part of a book by an eminent Austrian botanist published in Italy in 1892. Here you see palms in their environment (as it was more than 100 years ago).

Borassus (Palmyra Palm) is a genus of six species of fan palms. They are tall palms, capable of growing up to 30 m high. The leaves are long, fan-shaped, 2 to 3 m in length. The images in this natural history plate are probably of Borassus flabellifer, the Asian Palmyra palm, Toddy palm, Sugar palm, or Cambodian palm.

Size: approx. 10" by 6.5"

Excellent condition. Well aged colors and a nice creamy patina. The border where the vintage lithograph was attached to the spine is a uneven but it will be easily covered when matted. The back is blank and paper is thick

This is the actual page from the 1892 book, not a reproduction
