This stunning solid sterling silver pendant was designed from a Greek silver two drachma coin of Corinth from around 300 B.C. showing Pegasus in flight. On the reverse can be seen the helmeted head of Athena facing left. The openwork U.S. Southwest inspiration for the bezel-frame was suggested by the familiar "Mobil Oil" signs still to be seen there today.

This pendant suggests a multitude of themes, from the freedom of the mythical flying horse to the wisdom of Athena, the greek goddess. It measures 1 7/8" high (4.5 cm) by 1 1/4" wide (3.7 cm) and weighs 15 grams (just over half an ounce of silver!)
