407 pages. Very rare volume from the first edition set printed in 1799 by Publisher Otridge and Son, et al, London, England.
This is volume 2 in a series of five volumes published that year.
Collectible volume from Italian poet Ludovico Ariosto.
A 1799 printing of this 16th century Italian romantic epic (The Frenzy of Orlando, more literally Mad Orlando), the earliest version of which appeared in 1516, loosely based historically on the war between Charlemagne and his Christian paladins, and the Saracen army which is attempting to invade Europe.

Shelf worn but still quite presentable copy.
It has moderate rubs and chips to edges and corners. Corners rubbed to the boards. Boards are still holding well. They do have leather cracks at the edges but holding up fine.
Gilt to spine. Gilt to front and back cover. Rubbed but legible
Marbled endpapers look great.
Very old and interesting prev owners bookplate inside cover. No other prev ownership markings.
Quite clean inside. Text pages look mostly white and nice. Very few light only flaws inside.

There are a very few others from this set and year for sale on the web. No volume II other than this one for sale and none of any volume in as good of condition. Scarce book.
