McCoy pottery was manufactured in the United States in the 1800’s and 1900’s. Most pieces were functional such as cookie jars, crocks, and jugs. By 1940, the company was producing decorative planters. The company closed its doors in 1990. The pieces in existence are the delight of pottery collectors the world over. Today, these wares are considered highly collectible examples of American art pottery. A stylized "McCoy" is written on the bottom of pieces, as Mc written next to Coy, or Mc on top of the Coy.
