No dust jackets. Each volume is 8-1/4" x 5-1/2". Bright yellow endpapers. No marks or inscriptions whatsoever, no creases, spines are tight, pages are bright and clean.

O. Henry's short stories are well known for their wit, wordplay, warm characterization and clever twist endings. From the foreword by Harry Hansen:

"O. Henry's stories are marked with the manners of the decade in which they appeared, but this has not diminished their appeal to popularity. The clothes people wear have altered; the emotions that move them remain the same. But the New York in his stories is today a period piece. It bears evidence of manners and economic conditions that belong to the past. A young author looking for stories can still rub elbows with the unemployed on the Bowery, but the two-cent cup of coffee will be hard to find. No working girl feasts royally on veal chops and fritters at a cost of twenty-five cents, plus a ten-cent tip..."

Collected in two volumes is a giant anthology of his work, to name just a few:
The Gift of the Magi
Heart of the West
Cabbages and Kings
The Four Million
The Gentle Grafter
Roads of Destiny

Strictly Business
