Vintage working toy printing press in original box, Superior Cub No. 8401from the 1950s.

This little press works by setting the type in the strip, then putting the strips on the drum. The smaller roll is inked, and when the drum is rotated, the type gets inked then prints on the paper being fed through it below.

The original instructions are missing, as are any extra tools. Originally there were 200 pieces of type, but now there are over 100 pieces, plus many without letters on them.

Box measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 4", and has some damaged edges. The metal press measures 8 1/2" long by 4" wide. Included is a "Swiftset Rotary Printers Journal" from 1953 which re-prints part of the instructions. Although I turned the handle and the drums rotate, I can't guarantee its working condition. The box did have a lot of printed papers from a long ago project, and I must say they were very clear and legible.

Great addition as a collectible toy or printing gadget.
