This pendant was made using an 1972 US penny. Until 1982 US pennies were 95% copper, so they can be enamelled.

I have a limited supply of old US pennies, but convo me if you are looking for a particular year, I might have one.
Canadian pennies also available.

Glass powders are fired onto pure copper in an electric kiln. At 1600 F the glass melts and fuses to the copper.

Flowing patterns that suggest waves, feathers or fire are made by scrolling a red-hot iron rod through the molten glass. Transparents allow the the rich warm colour of the copper to shine through.

Several firings are required to complete each design.
