This haori jacket would have traditionally been worn over kimono. The muted shimmer of the silver silk gives a sophisticated edge. Inside, the jacket is lined with a light peach silk with chrysanthemums. Two woven braids tie the garment at the front.

This haori is antique and dates back to early Showa (early 1900s). Judging by the stiffness in the tie fasteners, I would say this was very old. There is some very slight discolouration along the top edge of the sleeves. However, it would go unnoticed unless you look for it.

The condition is excellent. It is ready to wear in the traditional way or perhaps to brighten up your evening party outfit. A talking point at a special occasion. The luxurious fabric lends itself well to bridal outfits.

The fabric could easily be incorporated into your project. For bags or purses, this is a lighter alternative to the thicker obi fabric.
