Offering a gorgeous, gleaming, immaculate, unbruised, vintage, 4-piece, silver-plated Tea & Coffee Service, manufactured by the Sheets-Rockford Silver Plate Company of Rockford, Illinois. Marked SHEETS-R-S CO 1875 on the coffee and tea pots. There is also the symbol of a balance. The coffee pot is numbered 1800 on the base; the tea pot ,1801. The covered sugar bowl and cream pitcher are marked with the boxed letters SRS and are both stamped 1802.

The set includes a magnificent coffee pot, measuring 11 inches tall counting the knob X 9 1/2 inches from handle to spout; an elegant tea pot, 9 3/4 inches tall counting the knob X 9 1/2 wide from handle to spout; a lovely cream pitcher, 3 3/4 inches tall X 5 inches from handle to spout; and a beautiful covered sugar bowl, 6 1/4 inches tall counting the knob X 6 1/4 inches wide from handle to handle.

All of the pieces stand on 4 curving legs, topped with acanthus leaves. There is a 1/4 inch fluted band around the widest circumference of each piece. The handles of the coffee and tea pots are banded in 2 places, at the top and bottom, with ebony and embellished with a stunning lily of the valley motif. The spouts are also quite elegant, embellished with the same lily of the valley motif, as are the knobs on each of the lids, which open on hinges that are fully operational.

The set was cleaned to uncover any discolorations, spots or dents that might, otherwise, have been covered by the patina. I am delighted to report that there are NO ISSUES with this wonderful tea service. It is SPLENDID in every way, clearly a treasured set that undoubtedly sat in a glassed case, mainly for display and little used. It is a mid century heirloom in this condition.

Well-suited to Victorian, Georgian, Edwardian, or Queen Anne home decor. The perfect wedding gift or holiday present for someone who appreciates things Victorian or Romantic...

Sheets-Rockford was the third incarnation of the Racine Silver Company, started in Racine, Wisconsin, in 1873. Following a fire in 1882, the company moved to Rockford, Illinois, and became the Rockford Silver Plate Company. It was purchased in 1925 by Raymond Sheets, who discontinued flatware production, specializing in silver-plate holloware. At some point, the company's remaining stock was taken over by S. L. & G. H. Rogers. The company's name disappeared from directories in 1956.
