Art Doll Queen Elizabeth Art Doll Miniature

This little miniature art doll is inspired by the portrait of Queen Elizabeth I known as the Rainbow Portrait. Painted in approximately 1600, by Isaac Oliver, this portrait can be viewed at Hatfield House. Oliver was a pupil of Elizabeth's favorite court painter, Nicholas Hilliard, and the brother-in-law of Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger. Some historians have argued that Gheeraerts painted this portrait, but most seem in favor that Oliver is the artist.

Elizabeth wears a gold brocade bodice and sleeves accented in cream cuffs with copper orange silk skirt. Her dress is draped by a matching silk wrap, and she has a large circular white, pleated collar . Her hand styled red hair is topped by a special gold crown headpiece, has a detailed , hand painted face.

All details of her face are painted by hand, and she stands a tiny 4 1/2 inches tall, (11.4 cm).

Queen Elizabeth is a must have for the serious Tudor history fan!
