DaisyandStella is pleased to offer this outstanding vintage 1940s periwinkle blue wedding suit set that I was told was worn by the bride for her wedding on April 6, 1946 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina! Due to war rationing, it was typical for a 40s bride to wear a suit on her wedding day as the garment was more useful to her after the wedding. This is the first bridal suit set I have come across and I am absolutely thrilled to be sharing this with you!

The blazer jacket is fabulous featuring a V neck winged collar with three tucks extending from each defined shoulder, four silver button-down front closures and five tiny gathered pleats on each side of nipped waist that add a cool textural element while accentuating the mini peplum! The blazer is lined with acetate and the shoulders have hidden padding for structure and shape and the back also has flattering double seams. The tailoring here is magnificent and even the back collar has stitched embroidery underneath! Tagged with ‘National Coat and Suit Recovery Board Consumer Protection’ label.

A sheer white nylon blouse accompanies the blazer featuring a lightly gathered neckline, long tapered sleeves and button-up back closure. The skirt features 6 vertical seams and a 5 ¾” center slit. A 3 ¾” band of light bluish green cotton divides the waistband from the remainder of skirt. Skirt closes with a hidden side metal zipper and top button/loop closure are waistband.

The wedding hat / fascinator is absolutely fabulous tagged “Livingston Bros. San Francisco” along with a consumer protection label with “New York Creation” and “M” possibly for size on the back. In the same periwinkle blue as the suit but in a softer material, possibly a felted wool, with what appear to be layered petals on each side of the face with two long tear drop shaped cutouts! A black net veil is attached behind each cutout and at center and sweeps down just over the face ending right below the chin!

Such a wonderful and rare set – can be worn in many different settings and occasions!

Condition: Very good! Condition statement for each piece below.

Skirt: Good! Cotton band at top has some yellow spots.

Blazer: Near Excellent! Some of silver tarnish has come off buttons. Two threaded belt loops – but unfortunately I do not have the original belt.

Nylon Blouse: Good! Some pricks/tiny pulls to fabric.

Fascinator Hat: Near excellent! A couple holes to netting.

Size: XS-Small.

Skirt Size: Waist measures 24” around. Hips measure a max of 36” around. Skirt measures 30” in length.

Blazer Size: Bust measures up to 35” around. Waist measures 28” around. Shoulder seam across measures 15”. Sleeves measure approx. 23” in length from back shoulder seam to hem. Back neckline to hem, blazer measures 25 ¼” in length.
