Gorgeous, delicate old powder box of a lovely soft creamy yellow, possibly a patina from age. I believe this box is celluloid but it could be Bakelite, or possibly even bone or ivory. It is very lightweight and has a very faint grain running through it.

This powder box has what I think are two calligraphy Ls on the lid. "LL". No other markings. Box is approximately 5" in diameter and approximately 2" tall. No chips, cracks or marring, save for some lovely soft yellow aging where it was handled by its original owner. I believe it is from the 1930s, but it could possibly be older.

This box came from the estate of a lady who lived in the early part of the 20th century in upper Michigan. It is in very good vintage condition, and has so many potential uses, from holding hair ties or pins, jewelry or powder, to storing keepsakes and love notes. It would make a wonderful gift for a special lady.

You will find similar celluloid boxes on eBay for $30-40; this is a bargain at only $18, $8 shipping.
