After picking up a copy of the latest issue of Handcrafted Jewelry (from Beadwork) I couldn't help but fall in love with Heather Alexander's birdhouse project. They reminded me of the little plant pokes I made for my houseplants some 15 years ago. Back then I used recycled and rusty metal for the roofs-not exactly something you would want to wear. These little cuties are made from hardwood, ephemera, and findings. I've sealed each pendant with clear laquer and and added one of my own bird charms. The pendants come on 24" of antiqued brass chain, with a sweet little bird charm. Each birdhouse measures 3/4" wide and about 1.5"-2" long. All jewelry arrives artfully packaged and ready for gift giving.

Want to make your own? Pick up the fall issue of Handcrafted Jewelry...Heather's project starts on page 16!
