“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” Old Eskimo Proverb

This is only the 3rd set in this series I've been able to find in as many years. Without a doubt this is the ***MOST EXCEPTIONAL*** set I've ever seen. The plates in this set are awesome! The inky blue color remains vivid with no fading and the paper has just about no toning. These plates are in amazing condition at 127-years-old.

The inky blue color of this chart matches the photo above. It is also the same color that's on this chart: https://www.etsy.com/listing/86395737/jan-feb-antique-constellations-star?ref=shop_home_active_2

This is a series of 12 antique night sky constellation chart maps, one for each month of the year. Each chart map exhibits the aspect of the whole sky at a given day and hour. The circumference of the map represents the natural horizon, and the middle of the map represents the part of the sky which lies immediately overhead. If the user holds one of these maps over his head, so as to look vertically upwards at it, the different parts of the horizon are marked in round the circumference being turned towards the proper compass points, he will see the same view of the heavesn as he would if he were to lie on his back and look upwards at the sky, only that the map is a planisphere and the sky a hemisphere. The author wanted anyone to be able to, on any given night of the year, to turn to the proper map, and in that map he ought to see at once what to look for, toward what point of the compass each visible constellation lies, and how high it is above the horizon. One map ought to suffice to exhibit the aspect of the whole heavens.

The star chart prints were published in 1887 and are in fabulous condition. The paper is heavy and not fragile. The paper surrounding the chart has slightly aged in tone, but not very much. The midnight blue color of the chart remains vivid. The page measures 9 x 11 inches. The diameter of the map is just shy of 8 inches. Be sure to use the *ZOOM* feature to see details.

This series is fun for star gazers, lovers of astronomy, as well as those who take their daily horoscope seriously. They would be beautiful matted and framed.
