Description:
Marilyn is a classic top-down drop shoulder cardigan.
It is worked with 20 cm of positive ease, to be worn as a twin-set with the Betty top.
With the Lauren kimono and the Betty top, it is part of a small collection, with eyelet motifs, a seed stitch border at the hem and a lace border at the sleeves.
You may choose to work the classic or longer version, to match your Betty top.

The photographed sample is worked in size 34/36 for the “long” version, in Oslo by Lang Yarns, 0063 colorway (red), 150 m for 50 g.

Bust circumference : 34-36: 100 cm / (38-40 : 110 cm) / 42-44 :119 cm / (46-48 : 130 cm) / 50-52 : 139 cm / (54-56 : 150 cm)
Positive ease : 20 cm

Yarn:
Choose a fingering to DK weight yarn, depending on the fabric texture you prefer, as long as you match the gauge.

Meterage:
825, (1060), 1170, (1300), 1425, (1575) meters/903, (1160), 1280, (1422), 1559, (1723) yards for the classic version
1050, (1290), 1370, (1630), 1780, (1920) meters/1149, (1411), 1499, (1783), 1947, (2100) for the long version

Gauge: 10x10 cm (in stockinette stitch–3.5 mm needles) : 22 stitches x 34 rows.

Circular needles: (80 cm cables)
3 mm and 3.5 mm needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions:
Coton yarn for the provisional cast on
Cable or scrap yarn to put stitches on hold
4 mm crochet needle
2 stitch markers (optional: several more stitch markers to mark the lace repeats)
9 to 13 15 mm buttons, depending on the version.

Stitches used:
Stockinette stitch (in the round and flat)
Seed stitch:
Zigzag lace pattern (chart)

Special techniques:
Provisional crochet cast on
German short rows
Knitted on cast on

Construction
The pattern is a drop shoulder top down cardigan.
It is worked from a provisional cast on, starting with the two half fronts.
Stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on to work the back in stockinette stitch.
The fronts and back to work the cardigan’s body. The three lace bands at the center are progressively added.
The button bands are worked in seed stitch at the same time.
You can choose to either work a classic or longer version. The hem is finished with a seed stitch border.
Stitches are picked up at the neckline to work another seed stitch border.
Stitches are also picked up at the armholes to work the sleeves in the round, ending with a lace border.
