A dramatic one-off piece inspired by carved jet Victorian mourning jewelry. It would add a wonderful authentic look if worn with a Victorian-style blouse or top.The ornate solid silver frame with its scroll design is a piece that I found in a local antique shop. The oxidizing process that has been applied to the silver frame has enhanced its beautiful, mysterious quality: The metal is black but with a slight iridescent sheen (particularly noticeable in the second photo of the back of the necklace). The center-piece is a replica of a beautiful Victorian pressed glass button, which has been varnished to enhance its textured pattern of hearts, scrolls and dots. The pendant hangs on a luxurious 0.5" wide (13mm) pure silk ribbon which is tied in an over-sized bow to complement the pendant. The ribbon ties in a bow at the back of the neck, and measures 31" (79cm).
