According to our personal friend Wikipedia, the first Moravian star originated in the 1830s at a Moravian Boy's School in Germany. Most probably as a geometry lesson or project. It was soon adopted throughout the Moravian Church as an Advent symbol. Often they are luminated and can be designed to have anywhere from 18 to 110 points.

These particular stars have 20 points and hand made from cutting the base from a heavy card stock paper into a polyhedron shape. The stars, or triangles are cut from colorful and appealing glossy magazine pages. They are glued in place and decorated with tinsel for a festive look. A festive, corded ribbon allows your to hang the beautiful ornament.

Once you own one Moravian star, it WILL fast become be a tradition in your family. They are simply to beautiful a hand crafted piece to not enjoy every year.

Approximately 7 inches in diameter.
