"This is a tale of a tail..." Author and illustrator Beatrix Potter published this story in 1903. It was an instant success after Peter Rabbit. It is a story about an impertinent red squirrel named Nutkin who sails to Owl Island with his brother, Twinkelberry, and their many cousins. The resident owl, Old Brown, accepts food offerings in exchange that the squirrels may gather nuts. They return day after day with various and different food offerings for the owl, but Nutkin only taunts the owl with sing-song riddles and rhymes. One day, Old Brown has had enough and seizes Nutkin and is going to skin him alive! Nutkin struggles so hard that he breaks his tail off and narrowly escapes!

This is an adorable book, short and stout in size. The 1/4" thick wood covers measure 6 3/4" tall and 5 1/2" wide. It is well filled with about 250 cream colored pages. This would make a precious gift for a new mom-or gramma- to jot down new-baby moments and add a photo or three. You could use this sweet little book as an address book or diary. I have varnished and sanded the wood covers, inside and out, many times over many days to ensure this book will stand up to any use you choose for it.

I will ALWAYS refund over-charges on shipping costs rounding up to the nearest dollar.
