Yes, this necklace is made of genuine coprolite, from a dinosaur, no less! Coprolite is the scientific word for fossilized animal dung. Who would have thought it would be so beautiful?

This stone is agatized dinosaur dung, where the original organic material is replaced with agate stone over time. In this case, we don't know the species of dinosaur; the deposits are millions of years old & were found in Utah. Coprolite is relatively difficult to acquire in bead form, so I am thrilled to offer some in my shop.

This piece of coprolite has a combination of beige, grey, orange, yellow & some dark green/black - please note that the colours may vary slightly on your monitor. The fossil is 3.4 cm (almost 1 1/3 inches) long. I've wrapped the pendant stone with sterling silver wire & placed it on a 51 cm (20 inch) sterling silver rolo chain that ends in a lobster clasp.

I have more coprolite items including earrings & a key chain:
Please contact me if you would like a custom order! I have many more pieces in my supplies.
