I knew I wanted to explore this technique, this idea, but had nothing planned when I began to cut the black vinyl. I worked, as I usually do, spontaneously. There was a point where I didn't particularly like what was happening, but let it happen anyway. When it was done, I realized that the shapes created this incredible likeness to ancient goddess figurines, and the name Hecate sprang into my mind, even though I knew very little about her. Plenty of ways to delve into that...but here, a few succinct lines.
The Greek goddess Hecate reminds us of the importance of change, helping us to release the past, especially those things that are hindering our growth, and to accept change and transitions. She sometimes asks us to let go of what is familiar, safe, and secure and to travel to the scary places of the soul.
So, whether that energy is meant for myself, the maker, or for you, the finder, I do not know. Regardless, if it speaks to you, listen, and see what lies deeply forgotten or even hidden, and helps you make a choice and find your path.
