Vintage 1930s penguin books memoirs Confessions of a Young Man by George Moore. This is a reprint from September 1939 having been first published earlier the same year.

An autobiographical story of a would-be painter in Paris of the 1880s who, discouraged, vowed never to draw again and instead writes of the bizarre atmosphere of the time, his meeting with Zola and other writers as well as the artists of the time.

Note the colour of the cover it was orange for fiction and deep blue for biography.

The main image shows the book without its dust jacket, the next with, and then without! Jacket has scar to the front and wear to the edges which includes splits. The books covers remain clean and fresh but there is a little dent that goes through to a few pages and a short split to the top edge of the front. The 277 pages are tanned.
