This serving bowl is lovely for display, but is sturdy enough for function. It's just the right size for storing fruit, mixing batters, or serving side dishes. It measures 9 1/4" in dia. and 3 3/4" in height.

This bowl is wheel-thrown and made of mid-fire porcelain. The exterior is a matte sage green glaze and the interior of the bowl features a large praying mantis in black underglaze which is painted by hand using a graphite transfer process.

The praying mantis has a popular association with feminism, as the female murders the male after mating. In China it is also known for it’s calm, patience and mindfulness.

All my pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they prefer hand washing.

This design is part of an open edition collection. The piece pictured may not necessarily be the piece you receive. As with most handmade work slight variations are natural.
