Who doesn't love honey? This honey pot is just the right size, holds 14 oz. of honey, measures 3.75" high and 3.5" at it's widest with a 2.5" opening. The recessed lid has a cut-out to accommodate the 6" wood honey dipper or a spoon if you prefer to store sugar instead.

This piece is wheel-thrown and made of mid-fire porcelain. The exterior is a slightly transparent buttery yellow glaze with a clear interior glaze. It features two bees, painted by hand in black underglaze using a graphite transfer process.

There is so much wonderful symbolism and myth connected to bees. They are associated with immortality, resurrection and fertility. The facts about bees are even more fascinating than the myths: the Queen bee is the sole mother of all the bees in the hive; all worker bees are female, and male bees, called drones, are only birthed when the Queen needs them to fertilize her eggs; the Queen is often the only member of the hive to survive the Winter, and she rebuilds the hive in the Spring.

All my pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they prefer hand washing.

This design is part of an open edition collection. The piece pictured may not necessarily be the piece you receive. As with most handmade work slight variations are natural.
