They're back, but a little bit different. These blue bee teapots used to hold 16 oz., but I decided they should be a bit bigger; this new batch holds 24 oz. easily. The larger size makes it perfect for tea for two to four. It measures approx. 6.5” wide, handle to spout and 5.5” high, has a round belly and narrows towards the top. The recessed lid stays on when pouring, yet is easy to grab. It has a sturdy handle and a spout with straining holes. Couple with one or two Bee Tea Cups:

This piece is wheel-thrown and made of mid-fire porcelain. The exterior is a lovely blue crackled glaze with a clear interior glaze. It features four bees, painted in black underglaze by hand using a graphite transfer process.

There is so much wonderful symbolism and myth connected to bees. They are associated with immortality, resurrection and fertility. The facts about bees are even more fascinating than the myths: the Queen bee is the sole mother of all the bees in the hive; all worker bees are female, and male bees, called drones, are only birthed when the Queen needs them to fertilize her eggs; the Queen is often the only member of the hive to survive the Winter, and she rebuilds the hive in the Spring.

All my pieces are food, microwave and dishwasher safe, though they prefer hand washing.

This design is part of an open edition collection. I have 2 currently in stock. The piece pictured may not necessarily be the piece you receive. As with most handmade work slight variations are natural.
