A very beautiful light green blue glass ink bottle with the "sheared lip" top. This type of lip was formed by the cutting or snipping the glass free of the blowpipe with a pair or shears. This process leaves it with a stovepipe look. It appears to have been pressed in a mold. One side of the ink bottle has no pattern. There are a couple of rough areas on the side seam. The top has two channels which appear to have been made to hold the pen. When held up to the light you can see the beautiful color. The glass has no chips- the top is made that way. Circa 1840-1850. This would be a great addition to your collection.
