Standing alone in a neighbor's front garden, this peach colored poppy called me to make a
4 1/4"x 11 3/4" zinc plate etching. See 2nd view for full photo. The 4th view is of another zinc plate to demonstrate the look of a zinc plate etched and ready to ink for printing.

I used an asphaltum ground on the zinc plate in which to draw the composed image with a stylus. This exposed the line drawing metal so when dipped into acid the etching would form. The ground protects the plate form etching allowing only the exposed lines or dots to etch in the acid. Variations of the lines were achieved by varied timing of the dipping process. Aquatinted background was achieved by varying a fine spray of a grounding material, then dipping. This etching was printed in a hand mixed maroon colored ink onto 7 1/4"x15 1/2 archival Rives BFK paper.

THESE ARE ORIGINAL FINE ART PRINTMAKING. Other prints are also available using chine colle' techniques and/or hand coloring with watercolor. This is an Artist Proof (AP) being one of the first hand pulled of a small edition in maroon ink. All my printmaking is numbered, titled and signed by me at the bottom space.
