A lovely two piece wooden hat block or mold for making a one piece wide brimmed hat.

The crown is marked "Hatter's Supply House, Chicago" on the base and both pieces are for a size 7 1/8 hat. Made of hardwood and finished at sometime in the past with a dark stain and lightly varnished. The wood is a rich warm dark brown.

The crown fits neatly inside the doughnut shaped brim mold or flange and makes it possible for the milliner to make a one piece hat. The brim/flange is slightly rounded and has a groove around the bottom edge. It is marked "17 7 1/8 3" on the side and the same numbers are stamped on the bottom. The crown is marked "6 7 1/8 51" on the bottom.

The crown block measures 8 inches long, 6 1/2 inches across and 5 3/4 inches tall. The brim block measures 13 3/4 inches long, 12 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches tall. The brim part itself is 3 inches wide.

Both piece have some light cracking that appears to have happened before the finish was applied. There is light wear around the base of the crown and the iron plate on the underside is rusty and missing one screw. Overall in very good condition and still quite useable, I'm sure.
