This shadow box featuring a flapper vampire mixes Victorian Gothic and Art Nouveou for an erotic seductive glimpse of vampire love. I based this piece on lines from Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's vampire story Carmilla. I've added bat wings to an image from a vintage photo of a 1920's era woman with a small cloth draped over her body adjusting her stockings. She's standing in front of a background showing a partially opened door looking out into a forest with vines all around the doorway and walls. Surrounding the niche is a decorative pink and black frame. The mini shrine has been painted pink with gold accents. And then aged with a brown tint stain. The front of the shrine is accented with a Art Nouveou style aged brass bat. The back has a torn and distressed paper with the quoted lines surrounded by two red roses and a pair of fang marks with the blood dripping down.
