This is a wonderful early Dansk Lattice Teak Tray designed by Jens Quistgaard and marked Danmark JHQ. This tray is dated to the late 1950s or very early 1960s as the hallmark is different on later trays and after mid 1970s Dansk hallmarked their wares with Dansk International Designs. These trays are very versatile; use it as a trivet, a bread board or beautifully arrange three large candles. Dansk also made square glass bowls with feet to fit securely into the lattice, this is the medium sized tray, at 18" x 9 1/4". It is designed to hold two rows of three glass bowls. The small tray held 3 bowls and the large held nine. Perfect for condiments or snacks; it is casual elegance at it's best a tray for all seasons.

You can find vintage bowls, but take care to note the color as they came in three different colors, smokey grey, olive green and tealish blue (my personal fav). If you don't want to wait Lenox who now owns Dansk is offering the bowls new in sets of three.

It is in excellent vintage condition, but does show signs of use. If you have any questions or would like more photographs please contact me. To see my other fine Dansk and Mid Century listings use this link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheInspiredTrader?section_id=8079059

In the second photograph the tray is pictured with a vintage Dansk snowman Christmas ornament.
